Privacy
This policy explains how the index0 website and browser extension collect, use, retain, and share information.
Effective date: August 22, 2026
Our single purpose
index0 has one purpose: helping you save, index, find, and share webpages you choose. We process only the information needed to provide those features.
Information we collect
Account and session
When you create an account or sign in, we process your name, email address, avatar, sign-in provider, session identifiers, and IP address and browser information used for security and keeping you signed in. Authentication credentials are protected by the authentication system; the extension does not read your password or browser cookies.
Saved items and page metadata
We store webpage addresses, indexes, titles, cover choices, and timestamps that you submit or import. We also process page titles, descriptions, site names, preview images, and icons to create bookmark previews.
Usage and diagnostic data
The website uses Vercel Analytics to record usage data such as page visits so we can understand overall use and improve reliability. /s/ pages containing private share tokens do not send analytics events.
How we use information
- Provide saving, indexing, search, import, export, and sharing features.
- Authenticate users, maintain sessions, and prevent abuse.
- Read or fetch page metadata to create bookmark previews.
- Troubleshoot problems, protect the service, and improve performance and reliability.
We do not use this information for personalized advertising or creditworthiness assessments, and we do not sell user data.
How the browser extension works
The extension reads the current tab's address, title, description, cover image, and icon only when you click its toolbar button or context-menu command, then sends that data to index0 over HTTPS. It does not continuously collect browsing history in the background and does not request permission to read cookies.
The extension uses the existing index0 browser session for authentication; if there is no valid session, it opens the sign-in page. Uninstalling the extension stops future collection but does not automatically delete content saved earlier.
Sharing and third parties
We allow hosting, database, authentication, and analytics providers to process information only as needed to provide the service. If you choose Google or GitHub sign-in, that provider also processes sign-in information. We may also disclose necessary information when required by law or to protect users and the service.
Public sharing
When you enable sharing for an index, anyone with its share link can see the saved items it contains. You can disable sharing or reset the link at any time to invalidate the old link.
Retention and deletion
We retain information while your account exists and for as long as needed to provide the service. You can delete saved items, clear the default index, export data, and disable or reset public sharing. Deleted bookmarks have a brief undo window and are then removed from the service.
Uninstalling the extension does not delete data already stored on the server. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of account data, email help@index0.link. Records required for legal, security, or disaster-recovery purposes may be retained for a limited period.
Security
We transmit data over HTTPS and use authentication and access controls to restrict data access. No online service can guarantee absolute security; if you discover a security issue, please email help@index0.link.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Chrome APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. View the policy
This information is used only for the single purpose described above. It is not read by a person unless you give explicit consent, access is necessary for security or support, access is required by law, or the data is aggregated and cannot identify individuals.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date and provide prominent notice in the product or store listing. For privacy, account, or data requests, email help@index0.link.
